3 Things to do before Mandalorian and Grogu
A quick guide to catching up on key stories, characters, and lore before Din Djarin hits the big screen
With The Mandalorian & Grogu bringing Din and Grogu to the big screen, this is the first time a Star Wars streaming story is jumping into theaters. Whether you’ve watched every episode or just love Grogu, here are three things to do before opening night.
Star Wars Rebels is arguably one of the strongest entries in the long line of Star Wars animated series. Following the Ghost crew as they take on the growing tyranny of the Empire. Its art style is also deeply intentional, drawing heavy inspiration from Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept art for the Original Trilogy.
One of the clearest visual homages is Garazeb Orrelios (Zeb). His design and spices echoes McQuarrie’s early drafts of Chewbacca.
Garazeb Orrelios made his live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 5, “Chapter 21: The Pirate.” Zeb is also set to appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu, This the perfect time to dive into Star Wars Rebels if you haven’t already. If you want to understand his backstory and his people.
Another surprising return in The Mandalorian & Grogu is Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt, now reintroduced as a muscular gladiator.
Rotta first appeared in the animated feature Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) movie. If you haven’t seen it, now is the perfect time to see it not just for Rotta, but to better understand the Hutt families.
If The Mandalorian & Grogu is going to be your very first Star Wars experience, I highly recommend watching The Mandalorian on Disney+ before heading to the theater.
